Komorebi Hoops | Akoya

18 karat organic yellow gold hoops with a streaming texture inspired by Komorebi (木漏れ日), sunlight filtering through trees. Luminous Akoya pearls sit unexpectedly inside the gold curves. Luxurious yet relaxed, these earrings add movement and interest to a classic form.

The Tradition of Mitsuro Hikime

The Tradition of Mitsuro Hikime

Mitsuro Hikime is a traditional Japanese jewelry-making technique involving a soft wax composed of beeswax and pine resin. By carefully warming and pulling the wax, the artist creates a distinct, pleated texture known as hikime (drawn lines).

Because the wax is sculpted while soft and pliable, it captures organic, fluid shapes that are impossible to achieve through traditional Western carving. Once the desired form is reached, the wax is cast into precious metal, preserving the delicate, ribboning ridges in solid gold.
